Our founder, Andres Garcia-Amaya, has been consistently ranked as a top speaker at major industry conferences and is a regular guest on CNBC and The Street. He is often quoted in the financial press, including CNN Money and the NY Times.
Andres acquired his MBA at The Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania where he received a scholarship for academic performance. He grew up on a small farm in Colombia. His family moved to New York in his early teens, where he went on to become an institutional trader at Morgan Stanley in his 20s. He climbed the Wall Street ranks to become an executive director at JP Morgan by age 32.
In his senior roles as a global market strategist and later a quantemental research analyst he led a vast number of meetings with ultra-wealthy clients.
He learned two key findings during his career. Firstly, very few financial professionals in the world can consistently, “beat the market.” And secondly, people don’t need an advisor for their investment prowess alone, but rather as a household CFO that helps them to achieve their specific goals in life.
Because of his background and his knowledge of the industry, Andres often got asked for advisor recommendations from friends and family. The problem? The majority of advisors do not have well-thought-out processes that make their practice truly client-centric.
After all this thinking, he ditched his suit and golden handcuffs and started Zoe.
